A capacity crowd attended CSI Tampa Bay’s special event at a local brewery.
CSI Tampa Bay held their 2nd annual “Advancing Cheers for Beers” at Angry Chair Brewing in Tampa, Florida on the evening of August 15th. Jennifer Reymundi, LEED AP BD+C, CDT with IBA Consultants, Inc., serves as the chapter president. The Advance Code Course and Networking event drew a full house.
Jennifer invited David Dodge, VP of Business & Code Development at McKEON, to present a 2-hour code training session.
David instructed the CSI attendees on the topic of the Five Walls of the FBC, A Guide to Fire-Resistance and Fire Protection. The group was highly engaged, raising a lot of questions. Input was offered regarding the design challenges they face each day. The focus of the training defined restrictive passive requirements in the code and potential solutions for open and spacious designs without code compliance compromise.
Katie Thornton and John Kabana, representing Specified Architectural Systems, Inc., the McKEON distributor for Florida, provided each person in attendance with a copy of the McKEON publication, “Fire Door Systems, A Guide to Code Compliance.” This unique 130-page text book addresses specific code challenges. It includes basic building code language, reason statements, case studies and general discussion on the following topics:
- Elevator Separation
- Exit Access Separation
- Vertical Opening Separation
- Occupancy Separation
- Area Separation
- Corridor Separation
- Smoke Compartmentation
- Resilient Construction
All who attended enjoyed a great evening of instruction, camaraderie, food and drink. A big thank you goes out from all who attended to Jennifer for planning a very successful event!
