David Dodge, VP of Business & Code Development at McKEON presented a 2-hour seminar at the Five-County Building Officials Association’s (F.B.O.A) chapter meeting and training session.

Five-County Building Officials Association is a local chapter of Ohio Building Officials Association and International Code Council.  On Wednesday, April 6th forty-seven attendees earned CEUs under the ICC Preferred Provider program. Mr. Dodge detailed vertical space provisions of the IBC as applied to Atrium Separation. This informative program included the following critical principles of code compliance in the IBC:

  • The fundamental code requirements for the design of atriums
  • Definitive provisions regarding separation vertically and horizontally
  • Regulatory standards for opening protectives in atrium separations

Also discussed were the myths and facts behind the code-compliant use of fire protective curtain assemblies.
