McKeon East worked alongside STUDIOS Architecture and JRM Construction Management on 295 Fifth Avenue.

McKeon East recently installed a side acting S7000 Series fire shutter in an office space within a Midtown Manhattan hi-rise. 295 Fifth Avenue is a hundred-year-old, 16-story building that was formerly home to textile industry firms. The 700,000 SF property was redesigned with state-of-the-art features, including a spacious lobby, outdoor workspaces, and light filled offices.

The side acting shutter is located at the cellar level separating the exit access stair vertical space from the open-floor area. Uniquely, the S7400 incorporates a conventional egress swing door that allows the passage of building occupants to safety. The slim pocket required for the wide span opening protective fit seamlessly into the architect’s original design while allowing egress from the stair in the event of a fire emergency.

The S7000 series is labeled for 3-hours UL 10B as well as UL 1784 “S” for smoke. This innovative technology is ideal for any application where fire protection and egress are needed and conventional swinging doors in sheet rock walls would not provide a desirable solution.
