A first-time ICC Conference and Expo exhibitor.
The International Code Council held its annual business meeting, expo and code hearings at the Long Beach Convention Center in Southern California.
This year the expo hosted an unusual and heavily visited exhibit – The North American Building Industry Collection. This archive of codes, standards, and diverse building industry documents dating back to the late 19th century belongs to the owners of Interior Tech in the Pacific Northwest. Jason Ledesma and Dan Quatier graciously expended a significant amount of time and resources so that others could view and appreciate their great collection!
Bryan Thomson and Dan Quatier hosted visitors to Booth #540 who were intrigued with the unique collection of artifacts, articles, and books that were the guideposts of the building industry. From slide rules to antiquated surveyor transoms, one could step back in history and imagine the times of old.
One visitor was Jon Traw who served as president of ICBO, International Conference of Building Officials for seven years. For many years Jon held on to one of the original printing plates used for creating the ICBO seal located on most of its printed materials and code book covers. On Jon’s second visit to the display booth he brought the plate and donated it to the collection.
Jon’s gesture was most appreciated. It is certainly a wonderful addition to an already diverse assemblage of documents and objects.
