Diane Reycroft, McKEON’s bookkeeper.
This October marks Diane’s 10th year with McKEON. Diane is primarily responsible for accounts payable and the daily bank reconciliations for McKEON. She also handles the accounts receivable side as well as some additional standard day-to-day accounting duties.
Diane initially graduated from Dowling College with a bachelor’s in business administration. She only began to pursue accounting after landing her first job with Citi Group and then a second position for a private jet company at MacArthur Airport in Islip, New York.
“I didn’t think about doing (accounting) in college,” Diane said. “But hands-on training is so much more different than going to school and learning.”
Diane was drawn to accounting because of the research aspect of the job. She said that it’s important to have an eye for detail and that she enjoys working with numbers as well as identifying and solving problems.
However, Diane noted that the people and the environment were the deciding factors keeping her in accounting.
“The atmosphere and who you work with contribute to your overall well-being,” Diane said. “If you’re happy at your job and happy with who you work with, then it makes you more motivated to go to work.”
Outside of her job at McKEON, Diane enjoys studying astrology. She began doing so in 2020 during the pandemic and has continued over the last four years, though she always had a fascination with the topic.
Diane also spends her time taking care of feral cats and rescues. She started when her daughter Face Timed her at work from a Trader Joe’s parking lot while holding a kitten. Later, when another cat gave birth to a litter of kittens in her garage, she was committed. She now cares for cats and transports them to shelters and is currently looking after 12.
