Interior Tech worked alongside ZGFHoffman Construction Company and Skanska on a project at Portland International Airport.

Dan Quatier of Interior Tech worked with the architects at ZGF for two years on the PDX Terminal Core Redevelopment project. They needed a way to secure two TSA stations without altering their design. The teams decided to utilize two 150 ft bi-parting McKEON SC3000PF side coiling perforated doors and abut them to large glass walls at each end. They elected not to use conventional overhead coiling doors due to excessive space requirements for large coil boxes.

Even though the side coiling service doors were the perfect solution a different challenge became evident when attempting to fit the SC3000PF coil boxes into the steel beam structure. There were only inches to spare. Interior Tech spent many hours with Vadim Litman of McKEON, the GC and ZGF to come up with a solution. This included determining how to hoist and move the doors into place. The usual methods would not work because of such close dimension tolerances. Vadim was able to slightly modify how the top end of the coil box was configured. It was then specially constructed to allow a perfect installation in a tight-fit circumstance.

Interior Tech took delivery of all four coil boxes this month and installed them in place. Several of these photos show examples of the coil boxes that had less than an inch clearance to the structure.
