D400 FireFighter® Achieves Significant New York City Regulatory Milestone.

 

McKEON® is proud to announce a significant milestone for the D400 FireFighter® Curtain Fire Shutter. A new FDNY Letter of No Objection is now available for download on our Regulatory Approvals page, providing architects, engineers, code consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction with an important resource supporting the D400 curtain fire shutter use within New York City.

Following its review, the FDNY indicated it has no objection to approval of the D400 curtain fire shutter by the New York City Department of Buildings Office of Technical Certification and Research (OTCR), subject to applicable code requirements and DOB approval.

 

Third-Party Listed and Certified

The D400 FireFighter® curtain fire shutter is independently tested, certified, and labeled by Intertek, demonstrating compliance with:

  • UL 10B – Fire Tests of Door Assemblies
  • UL 1784 – Air Leakage Tests of Door Assemblies and Other Opening Protectives

Third-party certification provides assurance that the product installed in the field is the same product evaluated during testing and continues to meet quality standards through ongoing audits and verification.

The D400 FireFighter® curtain fire shutter was developed to provide code-compliant fire and smoke protection while minimizing the space and visual impact of traditional opening protectives. The compact vertical rolling curtain fire shutter assembly delivers a 90-minute fire rating while supporting open architectural designs and concealed installation requirements.

New York City maintains some of the most stringent fire and life safety requirements in North America. Successfully navigating the city’s approval process requires extensive testing, technical documentation, independent certification, and regulatory review.

While all projects remain subject to applicable code requirements and agency approvals, the FDNY Letter of No Objection represents an important milestone for the D400 curtain fire shutter and further supports its use in one of the country’s most demanding regulatory environments.
